Before stepping into counseling, I spent six years as an educator, working in elementary, middle, high school, and alternative school settings. Those years gave me a front-row seat to the world of child and adolescent development—and to the many ways academic, emotional, and behavioral struggles can overlap. It was there, in the classroom and hallways, that I learned how powerful connection can be. Real change often starts when a child feels seen, a parent feels supported, and a teacher feels understood.

That experience shaped my mission. Today, my heart is for children, parents, and families—helping them strengthen relationships, find their rhythm, and create healthier patterns at home. I believe healing doesn’t happen in isolation; it happens in a safe, supportive environment through authentic connection, open communication, and collaboration. I also have a passion for supporting educators and helping professionals—the ones who give so much of themselves to others and sometimes forget to refill their own tank. My goal as a counselor is to walk alongside people wherever they are in their journey, offering tools, encouragement, and hope to help them move forward.

After earning my Bachelor of Science in Education from Texas Lutheran University—where I played soccer and began my career in education—I went on to complete my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lamar University. I completed my practicum and internship hours at Renewing Hope, where I now serve as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Dr. Roxy Riefkohl, LPC-S. In my counseling work, I primarily see children ages three to sixteen, using play therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help them process emotions and build coping skills. I also work closely with parents, offering practical strategies to strengthen communication and family connection.

My counseling approach is integrative and collaborative. I draw from play therapy, family systems, CBT, REBT, DBT, and solution-focused brief therapy. I often incorporate mindfulness and meditation practices to promote emotional regulation, balance, and self-awareness. My sessions are always grounded in empathy, authenticity, and respect for each person’s story. Whether I’m sitting on the floor playing a game with a child or helping a parent navigate a difficult season, my goal is to create a space where people feel safe, supported, and empowered to grow.

I grew up in Houston, Texas, and returned after college with a renewed sense of purpose—to help children and families find hope and healing. When I’m not in the counseling room, you’ll probably find me spending time with my family and my four dogs—Lillian, Maui, Maeve, and Lola—or outside doing yoga, running, biking, going to concerts, listening to audiobooks, or spending time by the river.

I’m also a Certified Yoga Instructor (CYT 200) and a Certified Social-Emotional Learning Facilitator (March 2025), which reflect my holistic view of wellness—mind, body, and connection working together for growth and healing.
