OUR TEAM

Life has a way of throwing punches that knock us flat...trauma that rewires your brain, relationships that leave scars, stress that eats you alive from the inside out. I work with men, couples, and anyone 16 and up who’s tired of pretending they’ve got it all together. My mission is simple: to help you get unstuck, find your footing again, and build a life you don’t have to fake.

Counseling with me isn’t about sitting around and rehashing the past just to stay stuck in it. Think of it like building out your tool belt. You already have some tools, but when life hits hard, you need more than duct tape and hope. Together, we’ll load you up with proven, practical strategies—so the next time life comes swinging, you know how to stand your ground.

I specialize in men’s issues, couples who feel like they’re on the edge, and survivors of trauma, PTSD, and abuse. I use approaches that work—EMDR for trauma, the Gottman Method for relationships, and other tools like CBT and solution-focused therapy to get results. I’m trained in Prepare/Enrich, SYMBIS, and grief counseling, and I’m not afraid to talk about the role faith and spirituality can play in healing if that’s part of your story.

Before becoming a counselor, I spent years in ministry, coaching, and leadership. I’ve seen behind the curtain of people who look “successful” but are falling apart inside. That’s why I don’t just care about appearances—I care about helping you actually get better.

I’m a Texas native, been in Houston since 2012, and when I’m not in the office, I’m a husband to Jill and a dad to two college-aged kids. They keep me grounded and remind me why the fight for hope is worth it.

If you’re ready to stop numbing out, stop pretending, and start actually healing, I’d be honored to walk that road with you.

Counseling, for me, has always been about creating a safe place where people can breathe again. I believe every person carries an inner strength and sense of purpose, but sometimes life’s losses, transitions, or hurts can make us forget it’s there. My role is to provide a compassionate, judgment-free space where clients can reconnect with who they are and begin moving toward their future with hope.

I work with adults and couples facing a wide range of challenges—relationship struggles, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, career changes, caregiver burnout, and the unique issues that come with aging. No matter what you’re carrying, I want you to know you don’t have to carry it alone.

Before becoming a counselor, I spent years in management roles in the oil and gas industry. What I loved most about that season of my life was mentoring people and helping teams work well together. Over the years, I’ve also volunteered with organizations like Star of Hope, where I mentored women moving from homelessness into the workforce, and Vantage Hospice, where I walked with families and caregivers during end-of-life care. These experiences deepened my belief in resilience and the power of human connection.

In the counseling room, I see our work together as a partnership built on trust. I draw from several well-established counseling approaches, tailoring each plan to the unique needs of the person in front of me. The goal isn’t just to manage symptoms—it’s to create real, lasting change.

On a personal note, I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for many years, and together we’ve raised a wonderful son and now have the joy of a granddaughter who lights up our lives. When I’m not counseling, you’ll likely find me traveling with my husband, camera in hand, learning about new cultures, dancing, or diving into something new to keep growing.

Counseling isn’t just what I do—it’s my calling and my joy. Walking alongside people who are searching for healing, hope, and a more meaningful life is one of the greatest privileges I know. I believe that with time, dedication, and the right support, every story has the potential to be one of hope, strength, and joy.

My mission is simple: to create a safe and trustworthy space where individuals, couples, and families can process life honestly and begin moving toward healing. Whether you’re experiencing grief, anxiety, depression, broken relationships, or struggles from current or past adversity; maybe just have a deep longing for something more, my role is to listen, encourage, and guide you with compassion and respect.

I specialize in women’s issues, but my experience extends across a broad spectrum. For more than 15 years, I’ve counseled people from diverse ethnicities, belief systems, and life stages—walking with them through stress, emotional struggles, difficult decisions, complexity of loss, premarital and marital concerns, divorce, matters of faith, and the everyday challenges that weigh us down.

My counseling style is relational and holistic. I believe trust is the foundation of any therapeutic relationship, and I meet each client exactly where they are in their story. From there, I use a blend of approaches—focusing on the whole person (mind, body, and spirit)—to help each client take meaningful steps toward growth and healing.

Outside of counseling, I love being outdoors, especially working in the garden. Other ways I enjoy life are crafting, listening to music, and quality time with family and friends. At the center of my life is my faith; it’s where I draw my strength and peace. One of my favorite verses is Psalm 40: “He heard my cry and lifted me out of the miry pit to solid ground...He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.”

I hold a degree from Dallas Theological Seminary and am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Texas. I'm also a Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor.

My areas of specialty include women, teens, and couples, with a focus on grief and loss, trauma, women’s issues, life transitions, premarital and marital challenges, spiritual growth, and emotional regulation. No matter what you’re carrying, I’d be honored to walk with you toward higher ground.

For more than two decades, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside children, teens, and adults as they navigate some of life’s hardest seasons. My passion is helping people overcome obstacles, find new ways of coping, and build healthier, stronger relationships. Whether it’s a child learning to express big feelings, a teen struggling with anxiety, or an adult facing major life changes, my goal is always the same: to create a safe, welcoming space where growth and healing can happen.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to each client. Sometimes that means using play therapy to help children process what words can’t capture. Other times, it’s teaching practical tools through cognitive behavioral strategies or working through trauma in a safe, intentional way. I believe therapy is more than “fixing problems”—it’s about equipping people with the confidence and resources they need to face whatever comes their way.

Before becoming a therapist in private practice, I spent 21 years as a school counselor. That experience gave me a front-row seat to the struggles children and adolescents face today: anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, trauma, and more. Those years shaped my commitment to creating a safe place where young people feel heard and supported, while also giving me the tools to help families and adults navigate their own challenges.

I grew up in Bastrop, Louisiana, and have called Houston home for nearly three decades. I’ve been married to my best friend and biggest encourager for 25 years, and together we’ve raised a wonderful son who’s now 19. When I’m not counseling, you’ll usually find me reading a good book, shopping, or planning my next trip—I love exploring the world and learning from new cultures.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Southern University and a Master of Education in Counseling from Texas Southern University. I’m also an Advanced Certified Trauma Practitioner through STAAR Commonwealth.

My specialties include working with children, adolescents, and adults who are facing depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, crises, and relationship challenges. No matter what you’re walking through, I believe there’s always hope—and I’d be honored to walk that road with you.

I became a counselor because I believe no one should have to face life’s hardest struggles alone. Whether it’s trauma that lingers, the weight of depression, or anxiety that never seems to let up, my passion is helping people find hope, healing, and strength they didn’t know they had. I work with teens, young adults, and adults, creating a safe and supportive space where you can be honest about your struggles and start building real change.

I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a highly effective therapy for trauma, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based approaches. No two stories are alike, so I tailor my approach to fit your needs—sometimes that means processing old wounds, other times it’s learning new skills and strategies to handle the challenges right in front of you. My goal is always the same: to help you develop the tools you need to live with greater peace, resilience, and purpose.

Before moving into private practice, I gained experience working in both clinical and school settings, counseling children, adolescents, adults, couples, and groups. Those experiences shaped the way I approach therapy: as a collaborative process where trust, empathy, and partnership matter most. I don’t see myself as the expert on your life—you are. My role is to walk alongside you, guide you, and help you uncover what’s already inside you.

I was born and raised in South Louisiana and moved to Katy, Texas in 2019 to begin a new chapter of my life. I earned both my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Nicholls State University. Outside of work, I value time with family and friends and believe strongly in continuing to grow and learn—both personally and professionally.

My areas of specialty include adolescents, young adults, men’s issues, family challenges, anxiety, depression, trauma, and EMDR therapy. Wherever you are in your story, I’d be honored to help you write the next chapter with strength and hope.

Counseling has been the heartbeat of my life’s work. Whether in the classroom, the counseling office, or guiding future professionals, my passion has always been to bring support, hope, and direction to people who need it most. I count it a privilege to walk alongside teens, adults, couples, and families as they face life’s challenges, and to help them discover new ways forward.

I work with clients 14 and older, as well as couples and groups. Much of my focus is on helping people communicate in ways that create mutual respect, understanding, and growth. With individuals, that often looks like building confidence, strengthening self-worth, learning to express emotions, and creating strategies for change. With couples and families, it’s often about breaking down walls, repairing trust, and restoring connection.

I bring more than 18 years of experience in public education, where I served as both a teacher and a school counselor, and later as a Professor of Counseling and Psychology at Houston Baptist University and Sam Houston State University. Along the way, I’ve conducted research and presented across the country and internationally on a wide range of mental health topics. My professional involvement has included leadership with the Texas Counseling Association, Fort Bend Counseling Association, and service on the board of Upbring. I’ve also volunteered at Santa Maria Hostel and Krause Center, supporting women, children, and families in difficult transitions.

My counseling approach is integrative and tailored. I draw from interpersonal, Gestalt, CBT, solution-focused, and family systems approaches—always with sensitivity to cultural and ethical care. I’m also EMDR certified and often work with clients who have experienced trauma. My goal is holistic health: mental, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual well-being.

I grew up in Bellville, Texas in a family of educators, and today I live that same love for learning and growth in my own life. At home, I’m dog mom to two rescue pups, Olive Marie and Ruby Rose. Outside of work, I recharge with spin classes, documentaries, art festivals, concerts, or anything involving spicy crawfish. Most of all, I love Jesus and the opportunity to serve His children through this work.

I hold a Doctorate in Counseling and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas.

I believe life is a journey—and no one should have to walk it alone. My heart as a counselor is to come alongside individuals, couples, and families, helping them navigate the twists and turns of life while moving toward the healthiest, most fulfilling, and Christ-centered path possible. I use a variety of approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy and client-centered techniques, but my goal is always the same: to meet people where they are and help them move forward with strength and hope.

Over the years, I’ve worked with children, teens, and adults on a wide range of issues including addiction, anxiety, depression, marital struggles, parenting challenges, and stress. I’ve also spent significant time walking with individuals and families through grief, loss, trauma, and the pain of suicide. My specialties include working with adolescents, families, and adults, and I primarily see clients ages eight and older.

My professional journey has been shaped by a deep commitment to both education and ministry. I hold a B.A. from Baylor, an M.Ed. in Counseling from the University of Houston-Victoria, and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Individual Differences from the University of Houston, along with a Doctor of Ministry. I am licensed as an LPC-S, LCDC, CSC, and NCC. Beyond my private practice, I spent more than a decade in public schools serving students in special education and emotional disturbance, and I’ve also worked in residential treatment with teens. Alongside this, I’ve served as a licensed and ordained minister for more than twenty years.

My advanced training includes SYMBIS, Gottman Method work, and Prepare/Enrich certification. I often draw from CBT, ACT, and creative/play-based methods to customize therapy for each client. Whether we’re tackling addiction, marital conflict, depression, anger, or spiritual struggles, my approach is holistic and relational—because real change happens when therapy fits the unique person sitting across from me.

Katy has been home to me for most of my life. My wife, Angela, and I met at Katy High School, and together we’ve raised three wonderful children. Outside of counseling, I love investing in my family, my church, and my community.

I believe, as Carl Rogers once said, that we are all already in the process of becoming who we truly are. My role as a psychotherapist is to walk with you in that process—to co-create a space where you can explore all parts of yourself, even the ones that feel uncomfortable or unwanted, and begin shaping a life that feels authentic and meaningful. I’ll meet you exactly where you are, and together we’ll work toward where you want to be

I primarily work with adults and couples, though I also see families and groups. As a PSYPACT member, I’m available to see clients virtually in several states. For over 20 years, I’ve helped clients navigate a wide range of concerns—anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, ADHD, identity, self-image, addiction, parenting, relationships, sexuality, and more. My clients often describe therapy as a place where they grow in self-understanding, reclaim a sense of power in their lives, make healthy changes in doable ways, strengthen relationships, and find greater meaning and purpose.

My therapeutic style is flexible and tailored. I’m trained in most evidence-based approaches—CBT, interpersonal, solution-focused, narrative, ACT, Gestalt, existential, family systems, psychodynamic, and more, along with specialized techniques like hypnosis, advanced behavioral techniques (e.g., ERP, HRT), memory reconsolidation (e.g., EMDR), parts work (e.g., IFS), and psychological assessment. Because every person is unique, therapy with me is never one-size-fits-all. Instead, we create a blend of approaches together, rooted in a deeply person-centered and experiential process. My favorite part of this work is helping people discover their authentic selves—not just a diagnosis, but the whole, evolving person they are.

I have a special place in my heart for those who work in mental health themselves, and I enjoy supporting therapists and counselors-in-training as they care for others while also caring for themselves. I’ve also trained future therapists as a professor, clinical supervisor, and department chair at Houston Christian University. Alongside teaching and practice, I’ve written a professional text (Five Minutes a Day to an Upgraded Therapy Practice) and developed several client-focused resources, including guided journals for major life transitions and a primer for making the most of therapy. I also serve on the executive council of the Fort Bend Psychological Association and advocate for mental health related changes in our area school districts.

I’m a native Houstonian and a proud Texas A&M graduate. At home, I’ve been married to my amazing husband for over 20 years, and we’re raising two wise and wonderful teenagers. When I’m not in the therapy room, these days you’ll probably find me studying – I believe in lifelong learning, and I’m currently enrolled in a masters’ program for clinical psychopharmacology. In a rare free moment, I enjoy reading the founding fathers and mothers of psychotherapy (or sci-fi/fantasy if my brain is tired!), practicing yoga or ballet, watching college football, getting lost in sci-fi, or going all out on Halloween costumes.

Life has a way of testing our resilience. Even the strongest among us face seasons when stress, loss, or conflict can feel overwhelming. In those moments, having someone to truly listen and offer perspective can make all the difference. My mission as a counselor is to walk with adolescents and adults through those difficult times, helping them regain balance and find the clarity they need to move forward.

I’ve spent more than 20 years working as both an elementary and high school counselor, and I’ve also worked with adults in an outpatient hospital setting. Over the years, I’ve helped children, teens, and adults face challenges like stress, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, and low self-confidence. My counseling style is rooted in cognitive-behavioral therapy, with a strong belief in the connection between thoughts and feelings—but I also recognize that we can only do the deeper work when we feel safe and emotionally ready. I often draw from Existential Therapy, Positive Psychology, and Solution-Focused Therapy to give clients practical strategies and renewed hope.

I was born and raised in Laredo, Texas, and moved to Austin to study art before relocating to Houston in the early 1990s. Alongside my work as a counselor, I’ve spent 27 years as a bilingual/ESL teacher, art teacher, and school counselor. My background in art continues to shape how I see the world—I believe creativity can be a powerful way to process emotions and understand ourselves more deeply.

At home, I’ve been married to my wonderful wife for over 25 years, and together we’ve built a family that includes three children and five grandchildren. When I’m not counseling, I’m often creating artwork, spending time with family, or diving into research on Positive Psychology to keep growing both personally and professionally.

Life is full of challenges, and sometimes those challenges can feel heavier than we know how to carry. My mission as a counselor is to help people—children, teens, and adults—find balance in the middle of those struggles. I believe that when we gain the right tools and support, we can experience not only relief but also a deeper sense of success, confidence, and happiness.

For nearly two decades, I’ve served as an elementary and junior high school counselor, working with children of all ages to address issues like anger management, bullying, personality conflicts, school anxiety, self-confidence, and self-acceptance. Alongside my work in schools, I’ve also been a hypnotherapist for 10 years. Hypnotherapy has given me the opportunity to help individuals break free from habits like nail biting and bedwetting, while also supporting clients with test anxiety, weight management, motivation, and self-love. My approach combines practical tools with encouragement, helping clients build their “life tool belt” so they’re ready to face whatever comes their way.

I was raised in Laredo, Texas, and moved to the Houston area in 1990. My husband—who has been my biggest supporter—and I have built a family we’re deeply proud of, with three children and four beautiful grandchildren. Alongside counseling, I’ve also worked as a bilingual teacher for children and an ESL teacher for adults. I’m passionate about lifelong learning and am always taking new classes and seminars to broaden my skills. Most recently, I’ve been exploring the benefits of aromatherapy and essential oils as additional tools for wellness and balance.

I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling from Sam Houston State University in 2000 and later received my Advanced Hypnosis certification from the Path Foundation in 2009.

My mission as a counselor is to walk alongside you as you navigate life’s challenges and discover new ways to grow. I believe healing begins in the context of safe, trusted relationships—where compassion, empathy, and honesty open the door to change. My heart is to help you build healthier connections with yourself, with family and friends, and with God. Along the way, we’ll work together to uncover your strengths, build confidence, and develop coping strategies that make life’s struggles more manageable. My hope is that through our work together, you’ll feel more intentional in how you live, more hopeful in how you move forward, and more at peace within yourself.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with children, teens, adults, couples, and families from many different walks of life. My career began in the public schools, where I served as a School Psychologist, and later transitioned into private practice where I’ve been honored to support clients from age 10 to well into their 90s. These experiences have given me a deep appreciation for the resilience of people across every stage of life.

I approach counseling from a spiritual worldview, but I always respect each person’s unique journey. No two clients are alike, so I use a variety of approaches tailored to individual needs. These include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Care, Solution-Focused Therapy, Family Systems, EMDR, and Play Therapy. Whether you’re facing trauma, anxiety, depression, relational struggles, or simply need a safe space to process life, I believe therapy can be a place for hope, healing, and growth.

On a personal note, I’ve been married to my husband for over 40 years, and together we raised five wonderful children. Today, one of my greatest joys is spending time with our five grandchildren. Outside of counseling, I love to travel, read, and continue learning through ongoing education. We’ve been active at BridgePoint Bible Church since before we were married, and my faith continues to shape both my life and my work.

I earned my Master of Arts in Psychology from Houston Baptist University and my Bachelor of Arts from Texas A&M University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, Registered Play Therapist, and hold a Lifetime Texas Teaching Certificate. A guiding verse for me is 2 Corinthians 1:4-6: “Comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”

I believe our deepest purpose in life is to love and support one another. When we align ourselves with that calling, life takes on more joy, peace, and meaning. But too often, unresolved pain from the past—whether from trauma, shame, or emotional wounds—shows up as self-defeating patterns that keep us stuck. My mission as a counselor is to help people face those hidden struggles, heal from them, and step into a life of authentic freedom, strength, and fulfillment.

My work centers strongly on men’s issues, because I’ve seen how many men wrestle silently with shame, self-esteem, addiction, trauma, and the struggle to live with authenticity in their relationships, families, and careers. I also work with women, couples, and clergy—particularly those navigating stress and burnout in the context of their Christian vocation. Whether it’s depression, anxiety, spiritual questions, parenting, or recovering from divorce, my focus is on helping clients find clarity, healing, and a path forward that feels true to who they are.

Before I became a counselor, I spent 30 years in the energy industry in leadership, engineering, finance, and consulting roles. That experience gave me a firsthand understanding of the pressures of success, identity, and responsibility that so many people—especially men—face. In 2019, I felt called to step into counseling, training under the supervision of Roxy Riefkohl, Ph.D., LPC-S. Today, I’m licensed in Texas as both a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), and I’m also a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT). I am EMDR trained, Gottman Method Level 1 trained, and actively involved in men’s leadership and spiritual formation programs, including The Mankind Project and That Man Is You.

My approach to therapy is both practical and deeply relational. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, and Choice Theory, all rooted in self-compassion, mindfulness, and spiritual integration. My Christian faith informs my worldview and guides my practice, but I welcome and respect clients from every faith tradition—or none at all. Each client’s journey is unique, and together we create a personalized plan that reflects their values, goals, and strengths.

I grew up in the New Orleans area and have called Houston home for most of my life. Outside of counseling, I find joy in time with my son, especially when we’re outdoors or watching sports. I prioritize my own mental, physical, and spiritual health through regular exercise, reflection, and community—because I believe the best way to guide others toward wholeness is to live it out myself.

I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling from Houston Christian University, an MBA in Finance from the University of Houston, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tulane University. I am a member of ACA, TCA, AACC, and the Catholic Psychotherapy Association.

I believe therapy should feel like a safe and welcoming place where people can breathe, be themselves, and begin to grow. My passion is helping individuals—especially children, teens, and young adults—develop the skills and confidence they need to navigate life’s challenges in healthier, more hopeful ways. I want my clients and their families to feel supported, understood, and empowered, so that change doesn’t feel overwhelming but possible.

Much of my work is with children and adolescents learning how to manage big emotions and express themselves in ways that lead to growth instead of conflict. I also work with families, helping them find healthier ways to communicate, strengthen connection, and build patterns of support that encourage both family unity and individual independence. For me, therapy is about more than just problem-solving—it’s about giving people the tools and confidence to face life with resilience and hope.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas with more than eight years of experience supporting children, adolescents, young adults, and families. I am currently working toward becoming a Registered Play Therapist and have extensive training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I’ve worked with clients facing trauma related to abuse, domestic violence, and immigration stressors. I am also trained in Triple P (Positive Parenting Practices), equipping parents with tools to strengthen relationships and guide their children more effectively. My background includes working as a teacher in inner-city Houston and collaborating closely with schools to provide individual and group counseling. I’m a proud member of the Texas Counseling Association and the National and Texas Association for Play Therapy.

My counseling style blends structure with flexibility. I build trust first—because when children and families feel genuinely heard and safe, that’s when real growth happens. From there, I draw on a variety of approaches depending on each client’s needs, including play therapy (both directive and non-directive), CBT, DBT, solution-focused therapy, social skills building, and family-based strategies. Every client is unique, and I believe in meeting people exactly where they are in their journey.

At home, I’m a wife and mom to two strong-willed, beautiful girls who keep life busy and full of laughter. My husband and I have been married for more than a decade, and some of our favorite moments are the simple ones—sitting in the backyard together listening to Texas Country music. When I’m not cheering on my daughters at sports and activities, you’ll probably find me spending time with family, shopping, trying out my latest Pinterest project, or relaxing with a mandala coloring book and music playing in the background.

Real, lasting change isn’t easy. For many of us, it can feel just out of reach as we wrestle with the confusion and difficulties of life. My goal as a counselor is to walk with you in that space, creating a safe and effective environment where you can grow, heal, and thrive.

In my work, I draw from ancient wisdom, modern science, and proven evidence-based practices to help clients find balance and resilience. I believe true vitality comes from more than just “fixing problems.” It’s about the unique interplay of thoughts and emotions, the health of our relationships, a secure sense of identity, and the ability to handle the challenges of daily life at work, school, and home.

I have experience providing both individual and group therapy, working with men and women from many different backgrounds and life stages. I work with individuals and couples in crisis, as well as those who aren’t in crisis but who feel there’s more to life than what they’re currently experiencing. Together, we focus on finding ways to not just survive, but to truly thrive—personally, relationally, and spiritually.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master of Arts in Christian Counseling from Houston Baptist University. I live in West Houston with my wife, Brooke, and our dog, Archie. When I’m not counseling, you’ll often find me enjoying time with my family, reading, or reflecting on the kind of wisdom captured by Annie Dillard: “If you want to look at the stars, you will find that darkness is necessary. But the stars neither require nor demand it.”

I believe therapy is about creating a space where you can bring your whole self—the joy and the pain, the hope and the hurt. My role is to offer support, reflection, and connection while walking with you through trauma, loss, or crisis. At the foundation of my work is collaboration: building safety, trust, and unconditional positive regard so that authentic, meaningful growth can take place.

In our sessions, you’ll be invited to discover more about your ways of being in the world and how your story has shaped you. By increasing self-awareness both in and out of session, you can grow in confidence and compassion toward yourself. I believe healing happens when we integrate our experiences—releasing the weight carried in our spirit, body, and mind—so that we can move forward with greater freedom and wholeness.

I enjoy working with clients of all ages and cultural backgrounds, from children as young as three to adults across different stages of life. With children, I often use play therapy, a developmentally appropriate and evidence-based way of helping kids express what words sometimes cannot. With teens, I lean on activity-based approaches that engage them where they are. With adults, I draw from a wide range of therapeutic modalities, always tailoring the approach to fit each person. I’m especially passionate about working with young adults from marginalized communities, particularly LGBTQIA+ clients, as well as individuals navigating ADHD, autism, PTSD, anxiety, and mood disorders.

My clinical training is rooted in Gestalt therapy and child-centered play therapy, and I integrate modalities like expressive arts, sandtray, dreamwork, family therapy, and affirmative counseling. I’ve facilitated groups on recovery, creative expression, mindfulness, and pride support, and my work has spanned schools, community centers, treatment programs, and private practice. Most of my experience has been with neurodivergent clients, those carrying trauma, and those wrestling with anxiety and mood challenges.

I hold a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Pre-Professional Art Therapy. Alongside my counseling work, I’ve served as a group facilitator, mentor, recovery coach, and residential treatment coach, all of which deepened my understanding of how people grow, heal, and thrive in supportive community.

Outside of counseling, I’m a proud Houstonian who loves spending time with my partner, family, friends, and my husky. I find joy in painting and creating, cooking spicy food, gardening, swimming, biking, skiing, playing games, dancing, or just wandering in nature. I love trees, plants, the moon, the ocean, and the feeling of finding something unexpected—whether it’s in the mountains while foraging or at a thrift shop here in the city.

As a therapist, I am dedicated to being your partner in understanding and addressing your concerns, setting goals, and identifying your strengths as you move toward healing and growth. In today’s uncertain world, I aim to help clients find their footing and navigate their future, and I am honored to be part of that process—both in times of difficulty and in times of hope.

My passion for therapy began as a teacher and summer camp counselor with a desire to support teens dealing with self-harm, depression, and anxiety. In my years of practice, I have also found a passion for working with adults facing self-esteem issues, trauma, difficulties with boundaries, communication challenges in relationships, and questions of identity and meaning. I welcome clients of all backgrounds and identities, offering faith-based counseling at the client’s discretion and support for those navigating religious trauma. I also affirm and support members of the LGBT+ community.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas with a Master of Arts in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The University of Texas. I am trained in EMDR, as well as the Gottman Method, Level 1.

In my approach, I prioritize compassion, authenticity, and collaboration to strengthen the counselor–client relationship, which research has shown to be one of the strongest indicators of success in therapy. I am especially drawn to existential and humanistic perspectives, which emphasize purpose, meaning, and the healing power of the therapeutic relationship. I also integrate techniques from EMDR, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy to create a tailored, holistic, and culturally competent approach for each client.

I was raised in Angleton, a town just south of Houston. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, reading fiction, baking, running, and listening to true crime podcasts. Community is very important to me, so I also love to spend a night in with friends and my cats.

I believe one of the greatest gifts we can give each other is truly listening. For children, parents, or couples, life often feels overwhelming when no one feels heard. My mission as a counselor is to create a space where every voice matters, where communication becomes clearer, and where relationships can begin to heal and grow stronger.

With children, my focus is on helping them recognize and express their feelings in healthy, calm ways. Play therapy is at the heart of this process—it allows kids to communicate what they may not yet have the words for. While behavior often brings families into counseling, I work to uncover and address the deeper emotions and thoughts that drive those behaviors. This can be a slow process, but it’s highly effective in creating lasting change and preventing future struggles.

Parents, too, need support—both in understanding themselves and in learning how to best connect with their child. I work with parents through skills training, collaborative sessions, and a focus on how each child’s unique personality and learning style shapes their needs. For couples and individuals, I take a humanistic and existential approach, helping clients clarify goals, build purpose, and strengthen communication. When appropriate, I also draw from behavioral techniques to provide structure and strategies for change.

I earned my Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Houston (Go Coogs!) and completed my practicum and internship right here at Renewing Hope, where I primarily practiced play therapy with children ages 3–14 while also counseling parents and couples. I am a member of both the American Counseling Association and the Houston Licensed Professional Counseling Association.

Outside of counseling, I’m a husband, a dad to three kids, and a proud Houstonian. I recharge by playing basketball, swimming, or relaxing in the backyard with a good book. I’m also a lifelong movie lover—whether it’s indie films, art-house, or the Marvel Cinematic Universe, movie theaters are my favorite place to unplug and escape for a couple of hours.

My mission as a counselor is to create a safe, supportive space where children, teens, and adults feel truly seen, validated, and empowered. I believe healing begins when you’re able to explore your story with compassion, uncover your strengths, and learn new skills that help you move through life’s challenges with confidence. My goal is to walk alongside you in this process, helping you build healthier relationships—with yourself and with others—so you can live with more peace, fulfillment, and joy.

I work with clients of all ages who are struggling to manage their emotions and cope in healthy ways. For children, these challenges often show up as anger, defiance, or conflict at home and school. For teens and adults, they may take the form of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or unresolved trauma. I also provide support for parents who want to strengthen their connection with their children and learn new strategies to help them thrive.

I earned both my bachelor’s degree in Psychology (with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies) and my master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from the University of Houston—Go Coogs! As a counselor, I have training in play therapy and enjoy working with children, but I also love working with teens and adults as they navigate the ups and downs of life. Before entering the counseling field, I worked for five years at Launch Academy, a private school for adolescents with autism and other disabilities. That experience taught me how to help kids with unique needs tap into their strengths, build social and emotional skills, and prepare for independence, while also working with parents to support them at home.

My decision to become a counselor is also deeply personal. As a child and teen, I faced my own struggles with family challenges and anxiety—and found incredible support through therapy. What began as addressing one concern became a domino effect of growth and healing in many areas of my life. That experience showed me the life-changing impact of a good therapeutic relationship and inspired me to help others find the same kind of transformation.

I’m a native Texan from a big family—birth, adoptive, and step—and I’ve always loved connecting with people. Friends and clients alike describe me as patient, empathetic, and upbeat. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with animals, making art, listening to music, playing board and video games, and appreciating the simple beauty of wildflowers (especially dandelions).

My mission as a counselor is to walk alongside individuals as they grow in awareness, recognize their strengths, and overcome obstacles. I want every client I work with to know they are capable of meaningful change and lasting growth, and I strive to create a space where that process can unfold with both safety and support.

I work with adolescents (13+), adults, couples, and groups who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, and relationship struggles. I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide variety of clients and have also co-led a group for teens facing addiction. No matter the setting, I’ve seen the power of therapy to help people feel less alone and more equipped to face life’s challenges with courage and hope.

My approach to therapy is collaborative and tailored to each person’s needs. I believe the client-therapist relationship is the foundation for real change, and I use research-based approaches such as Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. This allows me to combine evidence-based strategies with the unique goals and values of each client.

I grew up in College Station and graduated with my B.A. in Psychology from Texas A&M University—Aggieland will always hold a special place in my heart! I later earned my degree in Christian Counseling from Houston Baptist University. Outside of counseling, I love spending time with my husband and family, reading, and enjoying the outdoors. My faith is also an important part of who I am, and one of my favorite verses is Isaiah 41:10: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

My passion has always been to serve others, and I truly believe in the power of the therapeutic process. I bring patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in the people I work with, because I know real change begins with trust. Through a caring therapeutic relationship, I help clients gain new insight, perspective, and self-awareness—the building blocks for lasting transformation. Together, we’ll use both research-based practices and creative approaches to find the path that best supports your growth.

I work primarily with adults in individual, couples, and group settings. While much of my training has been in complex trauma, I also enjoy walking with clients who are facing anxiety, self-esteem struggles, identity questions, addiction recovery, relational difficulties, or simply the stress of life transitions. My goal is always to meet you where you are, supporting you as you gain clarity, confidence, and tools for moving forward.

I bring nearly a decade of clinical experience to my work, with continual training in trauma-focused care through the International Society for the Study of Trauma & Dissociation (ISSTD). Before becoming a counselor, I spent ten years in the fashion industry managing stores and running a personal wardrobe consulting business. Those years gave me the privilege of helping men and women build confidence and see themselves in a new light—experiences that ultimately inspired me to pursue a formal career in therapy.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master of Arts in Counseling from Houston Baptist University and a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University. I have also completed Gottman Couples Therapy Training (Level I) and am on track to complete a Certificate in Complex Trauma and Dissociation through ISSTD in 2025.

I believe counseling is something that can benefit everyone. Life is unpredictable—sometimes messy, sometimes cruel—and in those seasons, we all need support. Asking for help when you already feel defeated can feel uncomfortable, overwhelming, even frightening. But I also believe it’s one of the most courageous steps you can take, and it has the potential to be life-changing.

My goal as a counselor is to create a safe, welcoming space where you can be open and honest about your thoughts and experiences. I want my clients to feel truly heard, without judgment, and to know they don’t have to walk through challenges alone. From there, we work together toward meaningful change—changes that feel authentic and sustainable for your life.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals, families, and groups across many settings: inpatient psychiatric and substance use hospitals, outpatient centers, community clinics, public schools, and a therapeutic residential facility for adolescents in foster care or juvenile probation. Each of these experiences has deepened my belief in the resilience of people and the power of a strong therapeutic relationship.

I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered approaches, but I tailor my work to fit the needs of each client. Much of my training has focused on trauma and abuse, and I have specialized training in Trauma Systems Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, and Cognitive Processing Therapy. I also hold national competency in CBT from The Academy of Cognitive Therapy. Currently, I work with adolescents (12–17) and adults of all ages, helping clients address trauma, anxiety, depression, and life transitions.

I grew up just north of Dallas and earned both my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and master’s degree in Community Counseling at Stephen F. Austin State University. Before finishing graduate school, I worked for Child Protective Services in Dallas County, an experience that shaped my compassion and commitment to advocacy. In 2012, I moved to Houston to be closer to family and friends and soon met my husband. Outside of counseling, I enjoy exploring the outdoors with him and our boxer pup, discovering new places, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.

I’m also an active member of the Texas Counseling Association and the American Counseling Association.

My mission as a counselor is to provide a safe and supportive space where you can be fully heard and understood. Together, we’ll take time to reflect on what’s weighing on you—past or present—and work toward meaningful changes that bring happiness, fulfillment, and peace. My goal is to empower you to recognize your strengths, build healthier coping skills, and grow emotionally, socially, and behaviorally. I believe every person I meet carries incredible worth, dignity, and potential, and it’s an honor to walk alongside them in the process of growth.

I bring nearly 30 years of experience in education, with many of those years spent as a high school counselor. In addition to my work in schools, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate through the Texas Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors. I’m also certified as an Anxiety and Stress Management Specialist and a Trauma and Resilience Practitioner. Over the years, I’ve supported countless children, teens, and families by being a steady, non-judgmental presence. I know how overwhelming life can feel at times—emotions run high, self-esteem can falter, and the path forward isn’t always clear. My role is to help you and your family navigate those moments with compassion, stability, and hope.

Outside of my counseling work, family is at the center of my world. I’m the proud mother of two wonderful daughters and the very joyful Granny of two (soon to be three!) granddaughters. I grew up in Scotland and have had the privilege of living and working not only in the U.S. but also in Canada, Sweden, and Germany. Those experiences have given me a deep appreciation for different cultures and perspectives. In my free time, I enjoy gardening, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Before stepping into counseling, I spent six years as an educator, working in elementary, middle, high school, and alternative school settings. Those years gave me a front-row seat to the world of child and adolescent development—and to the many ways academic, emotional, and behavioral struggles can overlap. It was there, in the classroom and hallways, that I learned how powerful connection can be. Real change often starts when a child feels seen, a parent feels supported, and a teacher feels understood.

That experience shaped my mission. Today, my heart is for children, parents, and families—helping them strengthen relationships, find their rhythm, and create healthier patterns at home. I believe healing doesn’t happen in isolation; it happens in a safe, supportive environment through authentic connection, open communication, and collaboration. I also have a passion for supporting educators and helping professionals—the ones who give so much of themselves to others and sometimes forget to refill their own tank. My goal as a counselor is to walk alongside people wherever they are in their journey, offering tools, encouragement, and hope to help them move forward.

After earning my Bachelor of Science in Education from Texas Lutheran University—where I played soccer and began my career in education—I went on to complete my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lamar University. I completed my practicum and internship hours at Renewing Hope, where I now serve as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Dr. Roxy Riefkohl, LPC-S. In my counseling work, I primarily see children ages three to sixteen, using play therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help them process emotions and build coping skills. I also work closely with parents, offering practical strategies to strengthen communication and family connection.

My counseling approach is integrative and collaborative. I draw from play therapy, family systems, CBT, REBT, DBT, and solution-focused brief therapy. I often incorporate mindfulness and meditation practices to promote emotional regulation, balance, and self-awareness. My sessions are always grounded in empathy, authenticity, and respect for each person’s story. Whether I’m sitting on the floor playing a game with a child or helping a parent navigate a difficult season, my goal is to create a space where people feel safe, supported, and empowered to grow.

I grew up in Houston, Texas, and returned after college with a renewed sense of purpose—to help children and families find hope and healing. When I’m not in the counseling room, you’ll probably find me spending time with my family and my four dogs—Lillian, Maui, Maeve, and Lola—or outside doing yoga, running, biking, going to concerts, listening to audiobooks, or spending time by the river.

I’m also a Certified Yoga Instructor (CYT 200) and a Certified Social-Emotional Learning Facilitator (March 2025), which reflect my holistic view of wellness—mind, body, and connection working together for growth and healing.

My goal as a counselor is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and truly understood. I believe therapy is more than just working through challenges—it’s a journey toward resilience, self-discovery, and peace. Together, we’ll explore what balance and well-being look like for you, celebrate your growth, and navigate life’s ups and downs side by side.

I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and life transitions, as well as other challenges that impact daily life and well-being. My approach is person-centered and collaborative—meaning our work is guided by your story, your goals, and your pace. My role is to help you uncover your strengths, build confidence, and develop the tools to move forward with clarity and purpose. I draw from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to provide practical and effective strategies for growth and healing.

As a former collegiate basketball player and Graduate Assistant, I know firsthand the pressure to perform and the weight of trying to “have it all together.” Those experiences shaped how I show up in the therapy room—with empathy, authenticity, and a deep understanding of what it means to juggle expectations while still finding space for yourself.

Sports counseling is one of my specialties. I help athletes at all levels navigate the mental side of performance, injury, competition, and identity beyond sport. With experience supporting Division I athletes and a foundation rooted in both professional expertise and lived experience, I’m passionate about helping athletes—and humans—show up as their full selves, both in and beyond their sport. In our work together, we’ll strengthen the connection between mental health and performance so you can compete, recover, and lead from a place of confidence and calm.

I played Division I basketball at Houston Baptist University (now Houston Christian University), where I attained my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Today, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Texas.

Outside of counseling, I still love staying active, watching sports, or spending time with family and friends. My faith and family keep me grounded and fuel my commitment to helping others live with greater peace, purpose, and joy.

If you’re ready to create space for your healing, growth, and peace—I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

I believe every stage of life brings its own struggles and opportunities for growth, and I am passionate about helping children, parents, and families build healthier, more fulfilling relationships.

Over the years, I’ve worked with families in many different contexts—helping parents and children strengthen their bond, supporting students in school, and guiding siblings and peers through conflict. I’ve seen how much lighter life feels when relationships are strong, and I believe that through connection, encouragement, and understanding, even the heaviest burdens don’t have to be carried alone.

Today, I continue that work as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, offering support to individuals and families as they grow, heal, and build stronger connections. My mission as a counselor is to help people live healthier, more fulfilling lives by first helping them understand themselves. I know firsthand how powerful therapy can be. My own journey has shown me that healing is possible, even in the middle of life’s hardest struggles. That’s why I feel called to walk with others as they find hope, stability, and purpose. I believe no one should have to face challenges like anxiety, depression, grief, or burnout alone, and I strive to create a safe space where clients can explore, grow, and rediscover strength they may have forgotten was there.

I work with children, women, couples, and families, helping them navigate life transitions, relationship struggles, academic or career stress, grief, and spiritual concerns. I also have a special heart for those who’ve experienced religious trauma and for clergy and ministry leaders carrying the weight of burnout. My background as both a teacher and school administrator gives me unique insight into the pressures children and families face today, from academic struggles to emotional regulation and communication challenges.

Faith is an important part of my life, and I count it a privilege when clients want to integrate their spiritual beliefs into the counseling process. I take a holistic approach—mind, body, and spirit—always tailoring therapy to the unique needs of the person in front of me. At its core, my work is about trust and collaboration: meeting people where they are and walking with them toward healing.

Beyond the counseling room, I’ve spent many years serving in churches of all sizes, in roles ranging from children’s and youth ministry to women’s ministry and outreach. These experiences gave me a deep understanding of both the beauty and the strain that ministry work can bring, and they continue to shape how I support clients in their own faith journeys and life transitions.

I hold a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Houston Christian University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Baylor University. I am also a certified teacher in English, reading, and special education. Currently, I am completing my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Houston Christian University.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about me! I strive to offer human connection to my clients, through therapy, and meet them wherever they are in their life journey. My goal is to explore with my clients whatever treatment goals they may have and then create a safe space for my clients to share and heal and grow toward meeting their goals.

I have experience treating anxiety, depression, substance abuse, schizophrenia, bipolar, and personality disorders. I have enjoyed running psychoeducational groups covering topics such as boundaries, assertiveness, grief, and DBT (dialectical behavior therapy) skills. I'm currently offering ongoing intensives for those who have experienced narcissistic abuse and are looking to heal and find meaning going forward.

I have extensive experience working with clients who are survivors of sexual abuse and/or domestic violence as well as addiction. As a former associate teacher with HISD, I also have trainings in suicide recognition and prevention. I'm currently in training as a CCTP (certified clinical trauma professional) using a relaxed body method to help clients process trauma without re-living the traumatic memory in a stressed or activated body. The gentlest way to process and metabolize trauma is by having the body in the parasympathetic nervous system instead of in the "fight or flight" mode of the sympathetic nervous system.

I primarily use the character structure model to help clients find wholeness and integration. I learned this model by studying with the Townsend Institute under the leadership of clinical psychologist, and author, Dr. John Townsend. I also like to utilize concepts from other modalities, such as IFS and Gestalt. I focus on human attachment as well as the therapeutic relationship to model out what safe relationships should look like.

For my undergraduate degree, I studied Government and Politics at the University of Maryland, College Park and even worked as a congressional intern in Washington D.C. at the US House of Representatives for the 8th district of Maryland. My graduate training was through Concordia University in Irvine, California. I hold a Masters of Arts in Mental Health Counseling, and I am currently licensed as an LPC Associate in the State of Texas. I am supervised by Lee Hudson, Psy.D., LPC-S.

I'm a mom to two great teenage boys who don’t just play video games but love to code as well! A fun fact is that I spent time in New York training to be an actor and vocal performer. I enjoy the arts and singing when the opportunity presents itself. I am an avid cruise-goer who loves snorkeling in the Caribbean.
