My Mission:
To work with children, adolescents, and adults to overcome obstacles by developing personal coping strategies and fostering positive interpersonal relationships.
My Focus:
To offer a warm and welcoming therapeutic atmosphere that fosters personal growth. I employ various therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioral, play therapy, and trauma-informed approaches to give each client the opportunity to express themselves, gain new skills and find the internal and external resources to deal with life’s changes and challenges.
Experience:
I have worked as a school counselor for 21 years. Experience working with children and adolescents in the areas of anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, non-suicidal self-injury, trauma, and various other issues.
About Me:
I was born and raised in Bastrop, LA and have lived in the Houston area for 28 years. I have been married to a wonderful and supportive husband for 25 years and we have a 19-year-old son. I enjoy reading, shopping, and traveling the world.
Education and Credentials:
Bachelor of Science, Psychology from Southern University and a Master of Education, Counseling from Texas Southern University. Advanced Certified Trauma Practitioner, STAAR Commonwealth.
