I believe one of the greatest gifts we can give each other is truly listening. For children, parents, or couples, life often feels overwhelming when no one feels heard. My mission as a counselor is to create a space where every voice matters, where communication becomes clearer, and where relationships can begin to heal and grow stronger.

With children, my focus is on helping them recognize and express their feelings in healthy, calm ways. Play therapy is at the heart of this process—it allows kids to communicate what they may not yet have the words for. While behavior often brings families into counseling, I work to uncover and address the deeper emotions and thoughts that drive those behaviors. This can be a slow process, but it’s highly effective in creating lasting change and preventing future struggles.

Parents, too, need support—both in understanding themselves and in learning how to best connect with their child. I work with parents through skills training, collaborative sessions, and a focus on how each child’s unique personality and learning style shapes their needs. For couples and individuals, I take a humanistic and existential approach, helping clients clarify goals, build purpose, and strengthen communication. When appropriate, I also draw from behavioral techniques to provide structure and strategies for change.

I earned my Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Houston (Go Coogs!) and completed my practicum and internship right here at Renewing Hope, where I primarily practiced play therapy with children ages 3–14 while also counseling parents and couples. I am a member of both the American Counseling Association and the Houston Licensed Professional Counseling Association.

Outside of counseling, I’m a husband, a dad to three kids, and a proud Houstonian. I recharge by playing basketball, swimming, or relaxing in the backyard with a good book. I’m also a lifelong movie lover—whether it’s indie films, art-house, or the Marvel Cinematic Universe, movie theaters are my favorite place to unplug and escape for a couple of hours.
