When a client makes the decision to attend therapy, that decision is often accompanied by uncertainty and
fear. As a therapist, my goal is to make each client feel supported, seen, heard, and to the very best of my
ability, understood. Another goal of my therapeutic relationships is to provide a safe place for self-expression, self-examination, and growth, coupled with copious amounts of hope.
My approach to therapy is guided by various approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution
Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and others. I also advocate for the use of movement, music, art, and
journaling as appropriate. Each therapeutic approach is designed in collaboration with the client and is subject to evolving as therapy progresses.
As a Christian, my faith is a central tenet in my life; however, I believe in working with each client where they
are, as they are. My beliefs do not influence the therapy I conduct with my clients unless specifically requested.
My primary work is with women and men in their upper teens and older, though I do see clients as young as 13. I work with clients who are struggling with self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. I also work with adults having difficulty managing changes to life’s stages: job transitions (including first jobs and retirement), changes to family composition or marital status, trauma and stress of medical diagnoses, and social fluctuations. Finally, I enjoy working with individuals and families navigating the arenas of foster care and adoption (both before
and after adoption).
Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in several public-facing roles in diverse fields, including grant writing for a non-profit organization, corporate sales, event coordination, and higher education. Though varied, each of these positions allowed me to serve in problem-solving roles. My curiosity, honed throughout each of these positions, is one of my favorite tools in the counseling office. I have a Bachelor of Arts from Ouachita Baptist University and a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas.
When I am not with clients, I am spending time with family, friends, and my dog. I also enjoy tending to my
houseplants, music, learning new things, and using my favorite fountain pens to journal.
