At Renewing Hope Counseling, as an LPC-Associate under the supervision of Dr. Roxy Riefkohl, LPC-S, I am excited to provide a safe and welcoming environment for those seeking help to navigate whatever life has thrown their way. My goal is to walk alongside clients as they find within themselves the strength to look forward to making positive changes in their lives.

I bring 33 years of educational experience, including 23 as a school counselor. I’ve been blessed to work at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, and what I have learned is that children at any level have the same basic desires: to be heard, to be seen, and to be loved. I provided a safe environment for all of those things to happen. Working with children has also afforded me the opportunity to collaborate with their parents and families, presenting a united front to support the children on their journeys.

I am a West Texas girl at heart, growing up in Midland, Texas. I attended Texas Tech University before graduating from West Texas State University with a BS in Social Studies. I completed my master’s in educational counseling at West Texas A&M University and most recently completed the required coursework to obtain my Professional Counselor License there as well. I moved to Houston in 2018 and have loved it since.

At the center of my counseling philosophy is my faith. I believe that God has called me to this profession, and working with people is my gift. I am an empathetic, non-judgmental listener who truly cares about the whole person, and that one experience does not define us.

My biggest joy in life is being “Grammy” to 8 amazing grandchildren! I am mother to 3 adult children, and they are absolutely the best parts of me. As a counselor, I bring experience in raising children, learning how to parent adult children, and navigating life as an empty nester. If you find yourself wondering how to do any of these things, let me walk with you.
