Jennifer Webb, MA, LPC

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who is presently in the process of obtaining my play therapy certification. I have also taught preschool, pre-kindergarten, and kindergarten over a ten year span. During this time, I noticed that children who were struggling with a variety of issues tended to gravitate toward me, and I was able to help them deal with these obstacles. This realization led me on a new career path where I could focus one hundred percent of my energy on providing support for these individuals.

As a counselor, I work with preschool, elementary, and middle school age groups utilizing play therapy techniques to develop skills like emotional regulation, problem solving, and coping and build confidence, autonomy, and responsibility for self. In the playroom, I employ a Client-Centered approach which allows me to customize treatment methods that focus on the individual needs of each child. I also work to build rapport with the child in order to foster the development of a trusting relationship where he or she can feel safe and comfortable expressing his or her thoughts and feelings in an environment that is free of judgment. In addition to my work in the playroom, I promote a team effort that encourages parents, families, and other important members in the child's life to take an active role in the treatment process. Finally, I attend workshops and trainings and consult with other professionals so I can provide a more holistic approach to treatment that focuses on the social, emotional, and spiritual needs of children in an effort to meet treatment goals and facilitate positive change.
