Counseling presents a unique opportunity to focus on growth and healing, and it is my goal to create a safe environment for every client where they feel seen and heard. I believe that leveraging and developing the gifts and strengths clients already possess, combined with learning new skills, coping strategies, and support can equip them to conquer any goal or overcome any obstacle.
I take an integrated approach to therapy that is tailored to each client’s specific needs but rooted in Person-Centered Therapy. Drawing from other research-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy gives me the flexibility to cater to the client’s unique goals and values.

I grew up in the Midwest and got my B.S. in Psychology from Iowa State University. After moving to Texas in 2005 I worked in youth and family ministry for over 20 years. During that time I also received a Master of Divinity from Perkins Theological Seminary. Currently I'm finishing a master’s in clinical Mental Health Counseling at Houston Christian University. It has been a huge honor to walk with students and families through the best of times and the worst of times, and I bring all that experience to the counseling room.
My ministry background and theological training have given me a deep understanding of the spiritual, emotional, and mental demands of ministry, as well as the hurt and pain that can be associated with faith, religion, and the church. While my faith is a large part of who I am, I also enjoy working with people of all faiths and backgrounds.

Outside of counseling I love spending time with my family and friends and cheering on the Houston Rockets! I have two sweet girls: Posey, a lab/border collie mix and Panda, a tuxedo kitty. I also love to exercise, read, watch movies, and eat good food.
